He began his career as a Letterman under his coach, and in his junior year, he was named Most Valuable Player. Landon Sims also played on the national level with the USA Baseball U-15 national team the same year. He was chosen to the All-State First Team and named the Region Pitcher of the Year. He won the All-America Classic after his junior year. In his senior year, he was also named to the All-America First Team for his perfect game. In his senior year, he was named region pitcher of the year and to the All-American First Team.

Raise to Fame

Today, the United States of America honored him All-State Honours. He was also a member of the school football squad during his high school years. Landon Sims was a two-time All-Region and All-Country football performer with the squad, but he eventually decided to pursue baseball as a career. He enrolled at Mississippi State University in 2020 as a right-handed pitcher and made his debut against Wright State in his freshman season. During the season, he pitched in seven games and earned his first career win in a game against Quinnipiac, when he pitched the final three innings without allowing a run.

He was listed among the top five freshmen appearances by the SEC towards the end of the season. Mississippi State defeated Notre Dame in the 2021 season to earn a spot in the College World Series in Omaha. When he and teammate Will Bednar combined for 21 strikeouts in a single game against Texas Tech, they set a new record for most strikeouts in College World History.
