During the season, he pitched in seven games and earned his first career win in a game against Quinnipiac, when he pitched the final three innings without allowing a run.

Mississippi State defeated Notre Dame in the 2021 season to earn a spot in the College World Series in Omaha. When he and teammate Will Bednar combined for 21 strikeouts in a single game against Texas Tech, they set a new record for most strikeouts in College World History.
