Taliban starts repair work of Afghanistan’s Bagram airfield

Kabul, Sep 21 (IANS) The Taliban-drove government in Afghanistan has begun the redesign and fixing of the Bagram landing strip, a previous US army installation, to make the air terminal functional, the Safeguard Service said in a proclamation on Wednesday.

“In accordance with guidance of the administration of the Safeguard Service, a designing group started the work for remaking, remodel and fixing of Bagram air terminal today (Wednesday) to reactivate it,” Xinhua news organization revealed.

The air terminal, 50 km north of the capital Kabul, filled in as the vitally army installation of the US-drove powers during their 20-year presence in Afghanistan till August 2021 when the Taliban retook control of the conflict torn country.

It was utilized for arranging and planning military activities against the Taliban.

As indicated by the Safeguard Service, the US troops had annihilated all offices at the air terminal prior to clearing on August 30 last year.

“The designing group with its restricted assets would give its all to fix and reactivate Bagram air terminal in the earliest conceivable time,” the assertion added.
