Trey Sermon began his professional career at an early age. As a true freshman in 2017, Sermon started three games and appeared in all 14. This season, he carried for 744 yards and five touchdowns on 121 attempts. As a sophomore in 2018, he split time with Kennedy Brooks, running for 947 yards on 164 runs and 13 touchdowns. Trey played in nine games as a junior in 2019, gaining 385 yards and four touchdowns on 54 attempts.

Trey is a 2020 graduate student at Ohio State University. Sermon’s 331 yards rushing against Northwestern University in the 2020 Big Ten Championship Game were the most by an Ohio State athlete in a single game and the most ever in a Football Bowl Subdivision championship game.
